Tanah Lot Temple to chyba najpopularniejszy obiekt turystyczny w Indonezji. Ta skalna formacja usytuowana jest na wyspie Bali. Tanah Lot w języku balijskim znaczy 'Kraj (na) Morzu'. Jest to część balijskiej mitologii, a jego historia pochodzi z 16 XVI wieku kiedy to po spędzeniu nocy na wyspie ksiądz Nirartha ogłosił lokalnym rybakom, że skały to idealne miejsce na wybudowanie świątyni do czczenia morskich bogów. Legenda głosi, że u podstaw wyspy na złe duchy czyhają morskie kreatury.

Tanah Lot Temple is possibly the most popular tourism object in Indonesia. This rock formation is situated on Bali Island. Tanah Lot in Balinese language means 'Land (on the) Sea'. It is a part of Balinese mythology and its history reaches the XVI century when priest Nirartha spent a night on the island and announced to the local fishermen that the rock is a perfect place to build a shrine to worship sea gods. The legend says that at the base of the island, sea monsters are lurking around to catch the bad spirits.
